Cardiff City defender Ben Turner will not play for Wales after turning down the opportuninty having been approached by Chris Coleman.

There had been rumours for months that discussios were ongoing with both Turner and Ryan Shawcross – both of who qualify through their grand-parents. However, Turner’s former manager at Coventry City Coleman has quashed any hopes after revealing both mens refusal. He told BBC Sport:

‘Ben also sees himself as English. So there is no further conversation there and both those avenues have been closed off and we move on.’

With no call-up for England duty on the horizon for Turner, hopefully he can continue to impress as a Cardiff City player having looked sharp and strong last season and at the beginning of this campaign.
