Cardiff City midfielder Chris Burke has been nominated for the December player of the month for the Championship.

Burkey has looked dangerous all season, offering width, trickery and a goalscoring threat from the right side of midfielder. In fact, the winger scored in three consecutive games in December against Preston, West Brom and Middlesbrough to take his season’s tally to 5.

Burke will compete with Lee Camp (Nottingham Forest), Billy Sharp (Doncaster Rovers) and Darren Pratley (Swansea City) for the award.

Burke has settled well in South Wales despite the break-up of his relationship, and his young son living in Glasgow. This season he has been responsible for much of our attacking threat due to his ability to carry the ball – something previously missing from the squad. His natural width and trickery allows extra space for others with Michael Chopra and Peter Whittingham amongst those to benefit.
