Cardiff City Win Purse Appeal Shocker!

Cardiff City have won their appeal over Darren Purse’s red card in the 3-3 draw with Burnley.

Thats right, the FAW panel yesterday overturned the ban meaning that Darren Purse is available for the final league game of the season, and more importantly the FA Cup final.

It was a pretty bad challenge, and personally I saw no chance of it being overturned. However, the panel backed up Jones’ claim that he went for the ball and that Andrew Cole’s reaction was pivotal in the red card desicion.

It will be easy now for the FAW vs FA debate to re-open but those fans should know we have have rotten luck with the FAW panel. They don’t seem to like us and have upheld ridiculous decisions in the past. This time, the decision fell in our favour and is good news for the club, the fans and Darren Purse himself.

Awful tackle, awful decision. 2 wrongs don’t make a right. How many double standards do you want as a Welsh team abusing the right of playing in an English league?

I’m sure you know more about it than us storagematt. But don’t ask us what we ‘want’ when its nothing to do with us. You may disagree with decisions, we didnt make ANY of them.

Its a fair article, but you have to say they have simply openned themselves up to criticism and quite right too. An awful decision by the FAW that stinks of hypocrisy and ulterior motives. I am sorry but if Welsh clubs play in the English league they should come under the jurisdiction of the English FA not some tinpot organisation residing in the valleys

I think you’re missing the point Phil. We’ve complained for years about the FAW, we don’t want them to decide on us, for partiality reasons and the fact that they have been unjustly harsh on us in the past. They were always going to come under scrutiny with this decision, but it shouldn’t just matter now.

Convenient for you, wonder if the F A would have overturned it, should you not be playing in the Welsh Leagues as you are Welsh aren’t you.

What a thoughtful, mature and perceptive attitude – I only wish there were more fans like you around Tiny T!

Seemed a real strange decision. The FAW never ceases to amaze.

well i must admit, when ever we get a unfair red card, we go to the faw and they always say no, now we got one over turned, the whole english football seems to have an opinion, taylor only had a 3 match ban for his disgusting tackle on eduardo, so theis was nothing like that, so why should purse suffer the same treatment. yes we are welsh, and we are to good for the league of wales, and by the looks of it, some welsh clubs are too good for some the england leagues
