Former Cardiff City loan player Simon Walton returns to Ninian Park tonight, the Queens Park Rangers midfielder currently on loan at Hull City.

Walton played for the Bluebirds during a short stint last season, he joined from Charlton Athletic as cover for the injured Riccy Scimeca. He made several appearances for Cardiff but looked woefully short of fitness and form, as well as picking up two red cards.

However, it was after his red card (and subsequent 5 match ban) against Sheffield Wednesday that his Bluebirds stint was ended. Shortly afterwards, Walton reportedly posted a rather foul and un-necessary tirade about Cardiff City (see here) who helped to consign Walton’s hometown club Leeds United to relegation although he later denied this (see here).

Whatever happened, Walton has not enjoyed the best of luck since after suffering a broken leg pre-season, he returned in December and has made 8 appearances for the Tigers since.

Walton is expected to be in Hull City’s squad tonight but is unlikely to be greeted as an old friend by the Ninian Park faithful.
