Cardiff City fans face an axious wait ahead of tonight’s crunch clash against Leeds United with question marks over the fitness of several key players.

Jay Bothroyd is nearing fitness after a hamstring problem, but Jones will be desperate to avoid aggrevating the problem. However, with big Jon Parkin (ankle) unavailable, and Andy keogh facing a late fitness test – Jones’ resolve will be tested. Thankfully, Michael Chopra is available following a rule change meaning his 5 yellow cards accrued do not result in a ban.

Craig Bellamy should not play, that is based on clear advice from his trainer who is adament that ‘explosive’ players with injuries history like Bellamy should not play two games in a week. this is a rule that Dave Jones has stuck to, and with Bellamy featuring against Bristol City on Saturday – he is unlikely to feature.

Daniel Drinkwater (thigh), David Marshall (illness) and Chris Riggott (hamstring) are all expected to miss out.

Leeds Untied have their own seleection problems with Neil Kilkenny having left to squad for International duty. Centre-backs Richard Naylor (knee) and Patrick Kisnorbo (ruptured Achilles tendon ) are also missing though injury.

A major injury doubt is influential wideman Robert Snodgrass, who hobbled off suring the second half against Middlesbrough and was diagnosed with a back complaint.

Manager Simon Grayson has also confirmed a number of players will be assessed after picking up knocks in recent weeks. However, there are not expected to be any suprise withdrawals, though lively midfielder Max Gradel faces a late fitness test.

A further boost for the Whites could come with the return of injury-plagued Ben Parker. The defender has been hit by a series of injuries which have seen him make just 4 appearances in the last 18 months, However, he had returned to training and has played several reserve team games as he looks to build up match sharpness.
