Cardiff City will face a mini-crisis early in the new season when a number of players are expected to be called up for International duty. The most significant will be the inclusion of David Marshall in the Scotland squad, and Peter Enckelman to Finland.

That effectively leaves the Bluebirds without a goalkeeper and with youngster Erwin Sak’s future in doubt – we could have been forced to get an emergency loan in for one game – or rely on academy keepers.

However, goalkeeping coach Martyn Margetson is ready to dig out his gloves, un-used for four years and make a cameo appearance. The game in question is not crucial and is in fact a Carling Cup first round tie against Dagenham & Redbridge.

If he is to play, Margetson would need to re-register as a player for the coming season.
