Cardiff City bosses having been working hard trying to tie important squad members down into longer contracts with the defensive trio of Johnson, Loovens and McNaughton of highest priority.

All three have enjoyed a successful season. Johnson has been subject of 6 figure bids, while clubs are known to be monitoring the situation of Scotsman McNaughton and Dutchman Glenn Loovens.

Cardiff City chairman Peter Ridsdale told the SW Echo:

“I have met with Roger`s agent and Kevin`s too and I will be meeting with Glenn`s agent this week.’

“We believe we have some lucrative packages to offer them and are very optimistic they will commit their futures to Cardiff City.’

These are not players that we HAVE to sell, and all three would be extremely difficult to replace. We have already strenthened by adding Miguel Comminges to the defensive options and whilst Capaldi and Purse could be replaced, losing any of the others would be a big blow.
