Cardiff City are reportedly lining up a move for out-of-favour Ipswich Town midfielder Owen Garvan to cover the absence of key midfield man Stephen McPhail after Macca was ruled out until February following an operation.

Garvan was placed on the transfer list by manager Roy Keane back in September and he appears to have no future with the Tractor Boys, despite being young and a favourite amonst the fans. Recent reports that he and manafger Keane are not even on speaking terms were rejected by the former Man Utd star but he has made just 5 appearances for Ipswich this season, and has not featured since August.

Cardiff City are initially seeking a loan move for the Irishman, and would look to make that permanent in January. We have struggled for some time in the central midfield area and Garvan may offer added depth and creativity to our squad.

Always thought he was a good player, more of an all-rounder than McPhail, Rae or Ledley – but then I thought that about Taiwo too!
