Cardiff City – The Bluebirds!

Cardiff City won a famous victory over Barnsley to put them into the FA CUP FINAL, where they will take on Harry Redknapp’s Portsmouth in just over a month’s time.

33000+ Bluebirds saw the game live, while others will have seen highlights. There’s no need for a match report on this site (especially by the time my coach rocked up outside Ninian Park last night!).

However, it was an assured performance by Cardiff City whose added control saw them deserve the win. Joe Ledley’s goal separated the sides at half time, in an open and exciting start. Barnsely created some decent chances in the first half and could count themselves a little unfortunate to be behind.

However, the Tykes plan to close Cardiff down was found wanting on the hige Wembley pitch and Cardiff ran the second half. Two fantastic opportunities went begging, unfortunately falling to Gavin Rae while Barnsley had one glorious 1-on-1 opportunity spurned by Odejayi.

In the closing stages, Cardiff were the better side and Barnsley failed to mount sustained pressure. Cardiff City deserved the win, the players deserved their celebrations and the fans certainly deserve the chance to come back in May for the FA Cup FINAL !
