Amid all the excitement and anticipation ahead of Cardiff City’s FA Cup semi-final date with Barnsle, it’s good to see that manager Dave Jones is not getting carried away and continuing with the day-to-day running of the club.

No matter what happens in the league and cup, we will not be shelling out large transfer fees to bring new players in. Free transfers were the order of the close season before while in the past we have paid £200-300k for the likes of Loovens, Johnson and Whittingham.

Jones will definately need to bolster his striking options for next season and one player catching his eye is young Wales-qualified striker Sam Vokes.

Dave Jones will watch the player in action for Bournemouth against Swansea City tomorrow. Vokes has been attracting attention from Championship and Premiership clubs after his goalscoring exploits.

Vokes has scored 11 goals this season as the Cherries battle against relegation.

I think he’ll be joining a Premiership club with Bournemouth pocketing a very useful fee to aid their bid to avoid going out of business.
