Cardiff City have launched an audacious bid to sign veteran striker Robbie Fowler.
Fowler is out-of-contract with Liverpool FC and is surplus to requirements at Anfield expecially after the big money capture of Fernando Torres. He could be the answer to Cardiff’s goalscoring worries and reports in South Wales suggest a bid has been tabled to him and the club are waiting to hear his decision.
Fowler, 32, has an iconic status in Liverpool and is revered in Merseyside. His goalscoring exploits are impressive and he would surely be a handful in the Championship.
He has International pedigree and an impressive career tally of 169 goals in 400 appearances.
Fowler’s wage demands are likely to prove a stumbling block with the former Leeds Utd player currently on £50,000 per week. It is thought however, that Fowler would consider a significant wage cut in return for regular first team action.
It would be an incredible coup to pull off, and still looks unlikely at best but worth a shot…..
