Cardiff City are looking to sign big targetman Steve Howard, the former Derby County striker, following his relegation to League 1 with current club Leicester City.
Dave Jones has tried to sign Howard several times, but failed and is a keen admirer of Howard at Championship level.
Howard is a difficult opponent for defenders, his power causing problems but he is also good at bringing others into the game and scores regularly. However, at 32 he is no spring chicken and may be losing more pace.
Ched Evans and Jason Roberts are other striking options being looked at by Jones and Ridsdale.

Well think he would be a good signing. Looked good for Derby when they went up, a big strong powerful front-man.
Yees he is strong but 32. can we get some strikers that are young and fast? we already have to old men up top
we need someone quick to put next to robbie next season and a good back up striker
Is he really any better than Thommo?
He’s a good goalscorer at Championship level. But he’s not very mobile which would not be good playing along side Fowler.
