Cardiff City took advantage of a decent but uninspired Blackburn Rovers display to record a brilliant 4-1 victory on Friday night – a result that became all the more valuable over the weekend as other results went in City’s favour too.

The Bluebirds, as usual, spread the goals around and Hudson, Bellamy, Mason and Kim all got themselves on the scoresheet with well taken finishes. The performance from Cardiff was good, but not brilliant and certainly not indicative of 1 4-1 win over a team of Rovers’ calibre.

All the more satisfying was that this was one of our most emphatic scorelines, and achieved away from home – where our form has been far from promotion quality. I would happily have accepted a point against Henning Berg’s men before the game! Smith was still out injured, as is Maynard. Jordon Mutch was suspended while Taylor and Cowie were only just back from injury. All in all a very impressive result.
