Cardiff City Striker Crisis Deepens!

Cardiff City have the strongest squad for many seasons, with added depth in all areas. Few would have disputed that, but this week has seen a rapid decline in that depth and leaves us desperately short of strikers!

Warren Feeney and Robbie Fowler are both long-term injury lay-offs. This week saw the departure of Jason Byrne to Bohemians, and now Steve MacLean has ‘jumped ship’ to Plymouth Argyle albeit on the back of a desperately disappointing stay in South Wales.

That leaves us with 35 year old veteran Jimmy Floyd Hasselbaink, who is being protected from too much gametime, and transfer-listed Steve Thompson as the only strikers.

Paul Parry is an option upfront as an auxiliry striker, but we do miss his pace out wide and he has relatively little experience in attack. In addition, we have youngster Matt Green, but he has only a little experience, and that with Newport County.

We really need a loan signing, and the decision to sell MacLean would be rediculous UNLESS a deal is close for a prospective target.
