Cardiff City Stadium Work Begins

The turf has now been cut at the site of Cardiff City’s new stadium at Leckwith with diggers moving in last Friday as the £46m new ground progresses apace.

Fans have noticed the remarkable changes at the site recently, with work previously started on a replacement Athletics stadium but the work beginning on our actual stadium is another big step forwards.

August 2009 is not the expected opening date for the ground, after the initial date midway through the previous season was revised.

Peter Ridsdale said in an official statement:

‘The money is in the bank and the diggers are on site.’

He added: ‘Today is the day when the new stadium starts.’

After so long spent talking, discussing and dreaming of the stadium, developments are coming thick and fast and the start of the 2009/10 season seems a realistic target. We now need to focus on the on-field issues!

The stadium will come and this is good news but we need to concentrate NOW on the league. Defensively we need a general who can inspire confidence in the back four. Now is the time to show the rest of the league what a good team we really are!!!

Purse and Johnson are both good leaders at the back, its the midfield that needs a leader for me, someone to take responsibility and add drive.
