After an up-and-down season, Cardiff City finished comforably mid-table. A scintillating start was followed by a dismal end and the same players looked half as effective as previously.

VitalCardiff brings you an end of season review of each player. If you disagree then feel free to leave a comment at the foot of this article or e-mail Vital Bluebirds with an alternative review!!

The reviews will be published every weekday between 10-11am:

8 – MICHAEL CHOPRA

Surely one of the bargains of the season. Michael Chopra immensely enjoyed his first full season and excelled for the Bluebirds. Cardiff got the Geordie for a knock-down price (about £400k) and he has now signed a new contract guaranteeing £3.5m for Cardiff if he leaves. Chopra has showed electric pace and a killer instinct this season and forged a good understanding with Stephen McPhail and Steve Thompson.

A sublime hat-trick against Leicester was the high-light of the season as he finished amongst the top scorers in the division. He picked up a needless red card after the final whistle against QPR, ending his season prematurely and leaving him stranded on 22 league goals.

Some classy assists and brilliant free-kicks signalled an impressive all-round game and although he has been prolific – Chopra has also missed a hatful of chances. He endured a particularly lean spell (1 goal in 14 games) between November and January and looked out of touch. However he soon refound his form but found himself frustrated by a lack of quality service and had to come deeper and deeper to receive the ball.

It has been a terrific first full season for Chopra, he has to work on his finishing and improve his temperament after picking up 2 reds and 9 yellow cards over the season. Nevertheless he has established himself as a firm favourite at Ninian Park with favourable comparisons to Robert Earnshaw and his own Chopraaaaa song.

Its his runs that make him one of the top strikers in the division – very intelligent.
