Cardiff City Squad Cull Announced

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones has, as expected, wielded the axe and shown little mercy to the Cardiff City fringe players after announcing the Bluebirds retained list for next season.

Jones held talks with all his players yesterday and there were few suprises with all those out-of-contract players now leaving the club:

Luigi Glombard, Mark Howard, Neil Alexander, Kevin Campbell and Jeff Whitley are all leaving whilst there were no new deals for 7 Bluebirds youngsters including Jamal Easter and Curtis McDonald – two pacy attacking players thought to have a bright future.

As expected, Iwan Redan has left for Holland while Kerrea Gilbert and Simon Walton have returned to Arsenal and Charlton Athletic respectively.

As expected Chris Barker (who spent the season on loan at Colchester United) and Kevin Cooper have both been transfer-listed whilst powerful Scottish striker Steve Thompson was also told to find a new club.

Paul parry and Willo Flood appear to have escaped the cull but could still leave if offers come in.

We now wait for news on those players set to come in and replace the outgoing Bluebirds.

Easter sounded good, and his brother is excellent for Wycombe (?). We need players in asap so they have time to ‘gel’.
