Cardiff City look to have rejected another bid from newly promoted Birmingham City for prized centre-back Roger Johnson. The Blues have actively pursued RJ for some time and tested the water with a £3.5m bid a few weeks ago.

Despite interest in a number of other players, including Scott Dann of Coventry City, Birmingham have not given up on Johnson and made another bid in the region of £5m.

Cardiff City Chairman Peter Ridsdale does not feel the deal is right for the Bluebirds however. The fee appears significant at first glance but the structured deal is based on payments over a lengthy timescale with the final £1m dependent on appearances and survival in the Premiership.

Johnson is a strong favourite to be made Bluebirds captain next season and would be a huge loss.
