Cardiff City Officially Sign Bothroyd !!

Cardiff City have completed, yes 100% completed, the signing of Wolves striker Jay Bothroyd for a fee of around £300k. The striker was a guest last Friday as we drew 0-0 with Ajax and has been strongly tipped with a move since then to bolster our attacking options.

However, Cardiff City fans were rightly wary after the debacles of Fowler and Bent but can now rest assured that Bothroyd HAS signed a deal, and is now officially a Bluebirds player.

The former Blackburn Rovers and Coventry City striker has undoubted talent but has struggled with consistency and temperament. He is a physical presence at 6’3′ but also has good skill and a fair amount of pace.

Bothroyd looks likely to feature in our final pre-season game ‘on that bonny pitch in’ Chasetown and could yet win a place in the starting line-up against Southampton on Saturday. He is vying with Thompson and Paul Parry to partner likely starter Ross McCormack.

A huge relief to finally bring in a striker, and whilst not the big money, big name – Bothroyd seems a useful acquisition. If Dave Jones can continue his decent history of getting the best from players – we could have an exciting strikeforce for this season.

DJ’s got his work cut out with Jay. He’s skillfull, can score great goals and play with passion. When he wants to. Don’t expect him to track back much. Mick McCarthy accepted the fact that he wont, and doesn’t. DJ ,ay have to do the same. Good luck to the lad though, he’s got bags of potential, just neds to show it more
