Cardiff City are definately in the market for new goalscoring options and have been linked with a plethora of strikers in recent weeks.

However, a few more substantive pieces of speculation have been circling with the Bluebirds known to have serious interest in the players.

Manchester City striker Ched Evans is a target, more likely to be a loan deal although any deal will now be complicated by the managerial change.

Martin Paterson enjoyed a good season despite being relegated with Scunthorpe United. He looked decent enough at previous club Stoke City but is certainly good enough for the Championship.

Darren Byfield is being targetted by a number of clubs following his release by Bristol City. The 31 year old have splayed for numerous clubs but is (hopefully!) not one of Dave Jones top targets!

Michael Chopra is another one regularly talked about but Roy Keane is not going to let him leave for an affordable price one year after paying £5m. At least the rumours of an Earnshaw return can now be quashed following his £2,65m move to newly promoted Notts Forest.

Basically how I’d like those signings is: a Yes for Evans, No for Byfield and Maybe for Paterson. Think we could do better…..?

well paterson did well scoring around 12 goals for s****horpe this season, even with a weak midfield, a non creative midfield, so he could do very well with our midfield, but he could be another steve Maclean, flop. byfield NO. ched evans yes, but with mark hughes on ther verge of signing for man city, hughes will play ched more than likely

ched evans would be great, a little young but very skilled
