The rumour mill is in full swing with Cardiff City apparently biding their time in signing the new players they desperately require to boost their ailing season. The Bluebirds hope to have two players signed this week and eligible to play against Southend this weekend:


Rowan Vine
City had a bid rejected but will return with an improved offer. Vine is said to be keen on the move but Norwich, West Brom and Norwich are showing strong interest.

Luke Varney
The highly rated Crewe Alexandra striker is one of League one`s leading scorers with 15 goals in all competitions this season. The 24 year old has long been talked about in regard to stepping up a level and would be tempted by a Championship move.

Peter Whittingham
The Aston Villa left back cum left-midfielder could be available following the loan capture of Phil Bardsley for Villa. Whittingham has a cultured left foot and made numerous Premiership appearances despite his young age.

Marcus Williams
City have made an initial enquiry regarding the Scunthorpe left back. The 20 year old impressing this season for Scunthorpe after progressing through the youth ranks.

Will Hoskins
The highly rated striker signed for Watford in a £1million joint swoop for the Hornets along with teammate Lee Williamson.


Ade Akinbiyi
The much-travelled hitman returned to former club Burnley in a £750k move last week from Sheffield United.


Robert Koren
West Brom signed 26 year old Slovenia international Robert Koren on a Bosman transfer. The creative midfielder moved from Norwegian side Lillestrom attracting much interest in European.

Paul Ifill
Another Sheffield United reject, the winger signed for Crystal Palace for £750k, having turned down a late Leeds bid.


Cardiff have apparently ended their interest in veteran Sheffield United striker Geoff Horsfield.

    The Transfer window should be scrapped and we should go back to the old system. It puts clubs/managers under too much pressure.
