Cardiff City are reportedly interested in signing 22 year old midfielder James McArthur from Hamilton although a host of other clubs have been linked with the highly rated youngster.
Wigan Athletic are amongst the favourites to land McArthur having already handed him a trial. A more to the Latics would see McArthur team up again with another exciting prospect – James McCarthy, a former Bluebirds target who joined Wigan last year.
McArthur’s agent is at the heart of the speculation, a fact that will not be a surprise to Bluebirds fans with controversial middle-man Willie McKay representing McArthur. McKay already represents Ross McCormack (remember last years pre-season debacle? – see HERE and HERE) and ‘keeper David Marshall. He has also repeatedly tried to facilitate a move for another client Daniel Cousin to Cardiff and has previously spoken of his admiration for Dave Jones so would be well placed to engineer a move to the Bluebirds.
McKay told the Wigan Evening Post:
‘he’s obviously still a Hamilton player, and we have to wait for them to give us the green light speak to any club that makes them an acceptable offer.’
McArthur has 1 year remaining on his Hamilton deal and the club could be persuaded to cash in on the youngster rather than see him leave for a fraction of the cost next year.
