Cardiff City’s injured duo Kevin McNaughton and Joe Ledley have both pulled out of the Scotland and Wales international squads after suffering injury during Cardiff’s 2-0 win over Barnsley on Friday.

Joe Ledley was first to go after falling awkwardly and seeming to twist his knee. He did report to the Wales team hotel and was assessed by the Welsh medical staff, but he will not travel to Belfast and will return for treatment in Cardiff.

His replacement on the evening, Kevin McNaughton, lasted only a few minutes and a 10 minute break in play was needed after he was knocked unconscious when he fell onto his head. McNaughton had only just been recalled to the Scotland squad and will be cursing his luck. He was released from hospital after initial tests revealed he was fine but Cardiff are taking no chances and have sent McNaughton to see a specialist for confirmation.

Club chairman Peter Ridsdale revealed the Club’s concern:

‘Kevin seems okay and was checked out fully by our medical staff and at the hospital, but we want to be absolutely sure’

‘His health comes first and Kevin has had a few headaches over the weekend. He will see a specialist just to make sure everything is okay.’
