Cardiff City have invited promising 18 year old Omarr Lawson to participate in our pre-season preparations with a view to a permanent deal.

The 18 year old striker’s contract with non-league Dulwich Hamlet has expired, and Lawson has attracted interest from a number of league clubs including several in the Championship. Young French striker Rudy Gestede made a big impression during pre-season last year and went on to feature regularly in the first team.

Manager Malky Mackay is a big believer in developing young talent, and Lawson has impressed during his spell in non-league football. We already have the likes of Joe Mason, Joe Ralls, Kadeem Harris and Nat Jarvis hoping to continue to build on their considerable promise but with City likely to utilise a lone frontman dueing the coming season – it would be a huge ask for Lawson to make an immediate impact, if he is offered a contract with the Bluebirds.
