Cardiff City winger Peter Whittingham has today been for scans on an ankle injury but despite hopes he would be back in action within a week – it has been confirmed that the damage is in fact ligament trouble meaning a lengthy spell on the sidelines.

Former Aston Villa man Whittingham is a regular starter for the Bluebirds, he and Paul Parry often vying for the right midfield berth. However, injury to Joe Ledley had meant we only had two recognized wingers available – now down to just Paul Parry for some time.

No news yet as to whether this latest injury blow could tempt the Bluebirds into making another loan signing or whether the likes of Comminges, Kennedy and Darcy Blake will be given chances to shine in midfield.

thanks guys, well everyone is entitled to their personal opinion, i think what might happen now is the gaffer will put parry out wide, with miguel will be put wide, and i might get a start at the back. just to say that bluebirdshroom told me a few weeks back to get uptodate that bothroyd is on his way back, well during training, we was doing stretches and he said he felt pain and had gone to the physio so we might not have him back for the swans game, be good to have him back though
