Cardiff City bosses are hoping a deal to bring on-loan winger Wayne Routledge to Ninian Park permanently is virtually complete. The Aston Villa winger has interested a number of clubs following a successful loan spell in South Wales and Villa manager Martin O’Neill is willing to allow a permanent switch.
The tricky winger has brought pace, flair and balance to the Bluebirds in recent weeks and despite being brought in to cover injuries to Ledley and Whittingham – he has emerged as a dangerous player and crowd favourite. With a fee thought to be just £300k already agreed with Aston Villa – not moving for Routledge would seem extremely foolish.
Queens Park Rangers are also very keen on Routledge and could yet make a move – they have already registered interest with Villa and would be able to offer a far more lucrative salary than the Bluebirds. Nevertheless, Routledge knows he needs regualar first team football and City fans and management are hoping his previous spell here will persuade the dinminutive winger that Cardiff is hit best option.

All week I have heard that QPR have virtually got their man. So this article is a nice surprise. I am still not convinced, although with him and Chopra both in the team for the second half of the year – promotion is a damn real possibility
same here. fingers crossed. also any news on ledleys offer? we cant afford for him to leave on a free.
oh no they are not
looks like we have missed out agian!! why cant we attract high calibre players to stay with us? wayne always looked a different class on the pitch and it showed where we were lacking with pace on the wing, parry can only do so much, and watching the 2 of them swap sides during the plymouth game at ease gave the defence a lot to worry about. we need to get a similar winger as wayne, also a creative midfielder (koumas??) and a good finnishing striker in this transfer window to have any hope of a play off place!
boa morte is now linked
i’d be happy with that.
terrible routledge just another greedy player!!!!
we were so warming towards him yet he takes an etxra few grand a week and switches to qpr just GREED!!!
i hope u dont even start a game u greddy boy!!!
however i belive DJ knows we need a right midfielder badly after routledges efforts and we should defo look to brign one in!!
and i’m lovin the fact that mcphailure isnt starting long may it continue
another rumour is matt fryatt (striker) from leicester. although they have asked for chops back. the movement and rumours as always is nice. lets hope we get QPR in the playoffs and beat them 1-0 AGAIN
