Cardiff City Fans Owe Ross A Good Reception

Cardiff City striker Ross McCormack will be with his team-mates today for the pre-season friendly at Swindon Town’s County Ground amid plenty of speculation about his Bluebirds future after an ugly spat over the past 2 days.



Initially a Peter Ridsdale statement suggested Ross was desperate to leave, though we now have reason to believe that is not the case and that Ross is content to stay at Cardiff City and merely confirmed with Ridsdale a verbal agreement already between the pair.



One thing you can say for Ross is that he has always maintained, from the day he signed, that he wants to play at the highest level. He has International aspirations to consider and would naturally want to talk to an interested club. He’s only been here for one, ultimately disappointing, season and although his personal performances were good – he will surely feel little affiliation to the club as yet – especially as the likes of Middlesbrough, Wigan Athletic and Birmingham City had previously tried to sign him.



Cardiff City fans are a fickle bunch, and many were annoyed with McCormack’s percieved comments. However, it is not clear that Ross has not in any way submitted a formal transfer request and the fans anger/frustration should not be aimed at Rosco at this point. Whereas many players have suffereed at the hands of our boo-boys, I am optimistic that todays game at Swindon will be attended by a more understanding and loyal sub-set of fans – those who trabvel to away games and are fantastic ambassadors for the club. Don’t boo Ross McCormack – he remains a Cardiff City player, and a good one at that. One thing Bluebirds always like is a committed attitude and work-rate – despite last season’s disasterous end – Ross showed all those attributes and at least tried to get things going where others failed.
