Numerous reports this morning suggest that Birmingham City have not been put off by our initial rejection of a £3.5m offer for important defender Roger Johnson and will be back with an improved offer.

A Birmingham source revealed a bid that was rejected and that Cardiff Chairman Peter Ridsdale was not recentive to any dialogue between the clubs. However, the figure of £5m being thrown around in all quarters of the media today is likely to get Peter’s attention.

Dave Jones too could be persuaded if the majority of that money was an up-front payment. He has a good record in bring defenders to the club and could use excess monies to bolster his flagging midfield.

Birmingham City are also sniffing around Coventry City centre-back Scott Dann. Personally I hope they go for Dann, and that Roger sticks around to lead the side out at the new stadium.

Would you take £5m for Roger?!
