Cardiff City were somewhat fortunate to snatch a 1-0 win away at Nottingham Forest but finished 2011 on a high after Kenny Miller’s second half header was enough to beat goal shy Forest.

Forest dominated large periods of the game but lacked quality in the final third and failed to create many real chances. A Lewis McGugan thunderbolt was the closest they came while City were able to create real moments of danger when we did press forward.

Moments before scoring, Kenny Miller missed a great chance when he missed the target when clean through. However, he made amends with a fantastic guided header from Whittingham’s cross. Rudy Gestede too went very close with a header while Ben Turner was inches away from connecting with a first half effort.

This was a great result for the Bluebirds, who have struggled at the City ground in recent years. It was far from vintage, and we rode our luck at times but an away clean sheet and several good chances meant we certainly deserved something from the game and came away with all three points – excellent considering we’d not won for four games.
