Cardiff City have today been linked with an audacious bid to bring QPR striker Jamie Mackie to the Cardiff City Stadium. The R’s are looking to offload a number of players to make space for Mark Hughes to reshape the squad he inherited from departed manager Neil Warnock.
Mackie was a key figure for QPR until a serious injury saw him sidelined for almost a year. He has now returned to action, but has stggled for regular gametime in Rangers’ disappointing season to date.
With a price tag in excess of £1m, the signing of Mackie remains a long shot for Cardiff City but both clubs have Malaysian owners and the former Plymouth Argyle man has a key advantage in that he can operate up-front, or in a wide role adding creativity, direct running and a potent goal threat.
A slightly more tenuous link between Cardiff City and Jamie Mackie is his latest addition to his (extensive) collection of tattoos. Mackie recently had a large Bluebird inked onto the inside of his right arm….
Any deal is surely a long way off, but recruiting Mackie would be a strong statement of intent from Cardiff City, providing quality alternatives to the two positions which most need strengthening.

Just to point out that Mackie has played every game since returning from injury this season.
