Cardiff City goalkeeper Peter Enckelman looks set to miss the rest of the season after scans revealed a recent operation on his knee has been unsuccessful and further surgery may be required.

The Finn was expected to miss a couple of months after going under the knife earlier this year. However, following weeks of rehabvilitation in which he thought he was making a full recovery – it has now emerged that damage remains and a bone graft may in fact be necessary – putting Encks out of action for up to 6 months.

Tom Heaton is back, and was named among the substitutes for the 2-2 draw with Burnley, while Dimi Konstantopoulos remains at the club on loan from Coventry City. Stuart Taylor remains the number one at present but his deal runs out next week and he could return to Aston Villa unless a loan extension can be sorted.

A succession of goalkeepers have attempted to fill Neil Alexander’s boots since his departure. Howard, Oakes, Forde, Turnbull, Enckelman, Taylor, Schmeichel, Konstantopoulos, Heaton… Is there a curse on Cardiff City keepers?!?!

Hope we keep Taylor, has impressed me more than Encks or Heaton this season – anyone but Dimi!
