Cardiff City Cry Foul Over Penalty

Cardiff City manager Dave Jones was left bemused by a refeeeing error which cost his side a 1-0 lead and saw his side maintain their poor streak.

Cardiff led through a Darren Purse header when Tony Capaldi was alledged to have blocked Tom Soares marginally outside the box. The referee immediately gave a controversial penalty which was converted by Ben Watson. Capaldi was incensed and Steve Thompson, warming up along the touchline clearly indicated to the Cardiff bench that the foul had occurred just outside the box.

Jones was left unimpressed:

‘The referee made the decision far too quickly and should have consulted the linesman because it was well outside the penalty area.’

‘I don’t think it was the best performance by a referee that I have seen as some of his decisions were strange.’

Nevertheless it was the same old performance from Cardiff City. Nervy, lacklustre and lacking in quality. The spark is just not there at the moment and we’re losing ground all the time.
