Cardiff City number 2 Terry Burton is reportedly a candidate for the vacant managerial position at former club Watford FC following the departure of Brendan Rogers to Reading.

Lennie Lawrence brought Burton to the club where he immediately made an impact. Following Lawrence’s departure – Burton formed a good working partnership with current boss Dave Jones and is held in high regard with players and coaching staff throughout the league.

Burton is known as a master tactician – a role that will suprise many Bluebirds fans critical of the lack of fluidity, dynamism and shape of the Bluebirds in recent years. Dave Jones is seems is much more rigid in his formation and tactics and has previously suggested this forms the basis of their partnership.

Burton has managerial experience with Wimbledon and could be tempted by a return to Vicarage Road. Derek McInnes (Inverness) and Andy Hessenthaler are also reported targets for the Hornets.
