Cardiff City are reportedly chasing a Norwich City midfielder shortly after raiding the relegated East Anglia club for goalkeeper David Marshall.

A fee of around £450k was agreed for Marshall, and the Bluebirds have returned to enquire about midfielder Sammy Clingan. The Northern Ireland International is a defensive minded midfield player, and is unlikely to solve our lack of goals in midfield – he has netted 4 in 40 appearances for Norwich City – all from dead ball situations.

Cardiff City struggled in midfield last season, McPhail, Parry and Whittingham were all disappointing while you struggle to justify Gavin Rae’s selection without more creativity provided around him.

Clingan has a year remaining on his Canarie’s deal but would not cost a huge amount. Dave Jones both brought his through the Wolves ranks, and released him without a single appearance.

Will you please leave our team alone? We don’t have many worth keeping as it is without you lot pinching them all on the cheap…
