Cardiff City captain Darren Purse could be heading for the exit door after being told he will not be offered a new contract at the club.
The former West Brom defender has spent a frustrating time on the sidelines after Roger Johnson formed solid partnerships with Glenn Loovens and recently Gabor Gyepes.
On his day, Purse is a strong defender with fantastic committment and leadership skills. However, Cardiff City fans have only seen glimpses of his best form over the last 3 seasons and he can be turned too easily by oppsition forwards.
Dave Jones now appears happy to allow Purse to leave Ninian Park, but as his contract expires in June – there will be no transfer fee.
Amongst the clubs thought to be interested in Purse are Leeds United, Leicester City and Charlton Athletic.

suppose he has experience on his side but age must be taking its toll now, he always was full blooded and the knocks add up.
He’s been an excellent club captain and inspirational in his example to and support of younger players – I remember the way in which he welcomed Aaron Ramsey onto the pitch for his first 1st team appearance .. we owe him a great debt of gratitude and I am sure all City fans will wish Darren well if/when he moves on – he [and his family] seemed always happy to be Bluebirds ..
yes i do wish darren purse well. he has served the club tremendously over the years but i do feel dave jones is right not to offer him a new deal,
