Cardiff City worked hard to a 3rd round FA Cup tie victory over Championship rivals Reading after a 2-0 win at Ninian Park.

Both sides created chances and Bobby Convey should have scored when well placed in the Bluebirds area while at the other end City were denied a penalty whn Bikey handballed.

The second half was a more open affair with both sides looking to avoid a replay, Enckelman denied Long at point blank range before City grabbed the opener through Ross McCormack. Reading’s defenders tried to run out and play offide but Roger Johnson broke the trap and time stood still as he controlled and crossed for McCormack to head home.

City won the game late on when a neat one-two between McCormack and Ledley sent the Welshman clear and he touched past Federici for the win.
