Cardiff City triumphed over Leeds United tonight and took all three points to see us climb above our rivals and back up to second place.

The Bluebirds were dominant in the first half, taking the lead when CRAIG BELLAMY slotted home follwing Whittingham’s slide rul pass. Schmeichel was forcedto parry several shots, while he also clawed away Chris Burke’s low effort at the near post.

Leeds were disappointing in the first half, and created few chances. However, the Leeds started much the better in the second half. Tom Heaton made a superb save to deny Llody Sam after City failed to clear their lines, but within seconds the scores were level as Snodgrass robbed Bellamy and fired an excellent 25 yard effort across goal and in at the far post.

Both teams looked nervous, but looked to attack wehre possible. However, there were few clear cut chances until MICHAEL CHOPRA latched onto another sublime Whittingham 50 yard pass before cooly firing past Schmeichel.

Bellamy had an effort saved, while Keogh should have converted a 1-on-1 deep into injury time while Leeds United were unable to claw back an equaliser, their best effort when sub Becchio nodded wide under good pressure from McNaughton.

Cardiff City just about deserved the win, but this was about much more than just three points. We beat a genuine promotion contender, who are in good form. We tightened up defensively, and looked bright in attack. There are plenty of issues to be ironed out, but hopefully this win marks the retun to form. It’s certainly overdue.

I have to agree, thought we was poor the first 35 minutes. Well done to the stadium, no messing abut after the game and mobile beer sellers on the concourse.
