Cardiff City are certainly the odd ones out of the play-off quartet with each of the other sides in the mix having come down from the Premiership last season.

Birmingham City, Blackpool and West Ham were all relegated, and will be hoping to make an immediate return to the top flight. Their cases will have been helped immensely by the lucrative parachute payments – which makes Cardiff City’s achievements all the more impressive.

Cardiff City will have to conceded that the Hammers, and Birmingham City are both bigger clubs than the Bluebirds while Blackpool’s recent success and top-flight experience will also stand them in good stead.

Blackpool showed us that size doesn;t matter when it comes to the play-offs and the Seasiders’ success was built on hard work, exuberance and unwillingness to lie down. For the first time is several seasons, there is that kind of feel to Cardiff City FC aswell. The underdogs tag may just work in our favour….
