Cardiff City notched up just their second home win of the season after overcoming Ipswich Town in an edgy encounter at Ninian Park this afternoon.

The home side brought in Chris Gunter for Kevin McNaughton, who suffered a knock in training during the week. Glenn Loovens was also recalled in place of Roger Johnson in central defence.

A scrappy game was brought to life by a moment of magic, the inspirational Paul Parry strode into the box before curling a fine shot into the far corner.

The second half saw a number of counter attacks and long balls but the game lacked quality and Ipswich Town created few chances. However, Tommy Miller went agonisingly close for the visitors in the final few minutes after his shot beat Kasper Schmeichel but was cleared off the line by…..Paul Parry again.

Parry was a constant threat in the first half and Town changed formation to mark him tighter second half. The win was a crucial one for the side, and for manager Dave Jones and the relief was tangible after the final whistle.

3 valuable points for the Bluebirds, and they must carry the momentum into Monday’s game against Leicester City.

Full match report to follow Monday.
