A recent article on this site by Vital Cardiff member Tim Edge, discussed the current power struggle at Ninian Park and the involvement of former owner and ex ‘fans favuorite Sam Hammam. Article found here.

Alongside the article, we ran a poll to see fans views on who our beloved club should be entrusted to.

CALL OFF THE LAWYERS SAM AND LET’S GET THIS SETTLED!

Peter Ridsdale (69%)
Somebody New (19%)
Steve Borley (8%)
Sam Hammam (4%)

Further evidence if any were needed that any return by Sam Hammam to the Boardroom at Ninian Park would be just about as welcome as Peter Ridsdale’s to Elland Road!

Given all the recent controversy and turmoil it is remarkable that the Chairman’s approval rating is as high as it is. This is surely a reflection of the fact that a majority of fans feel that the club’s strategic and financial management is in good hands. With results on the pitch begining to stabilise and encouraging noises in the press about a possible out of court settlement to the Langston loan saga, there is perhaps more cause for optimism now than at any other time this season.

Hopefully Mr Hammam will now begin to realise that his day in the spotlight at Ninian Park is over for good.
His contribution as the catalyst that sparked our revival is undisputed and a large number of City fans are hugely grateful for the role he played in getting us to the fringes of the Premiership. I hope, for the future of the club, that he and Langston can now work constructively with the current Board to settle their differences and negotiate an end to this impasse without further recourse to formal legal action.

There is one image that I always take with me into negotiations over a dispute that seems intractable; that of Ian Paisley and Martin McGuinness greeting each other around the negotiating table like old friends after years of hatred and vitriol. Surely all parties involved in the Langston Dispute can take a similar leap of faith.

The future of this great club demands it.

Thanks to Tim Edge for his insightful contribution. Hopefully Mr Hammam will take one of the not-so-subtle hints he is offered and do the right thing. It’s within his power.
