Cardiff City lost the final pre season game of the summer as we headed to Dean Court on Saturday to face Bournemouth.

It was a good test for the Cardiff players with the hosts in good form, but a solitary goal from former Liverpool player Jordan Ibe.

Head coach Paul Trollope would’ve been pleased with the chances we created on the day, but disappointed we didn’t take one of them.

A week in training to go now ahead of the Championship opener next weekend against Birmingham City.

AFC Bournemouth:

Federici, A. Smith (Lee 46), Jordan, Cook, B. Smith (Harfield 86), Ibe (Green 74), Surman, Arter (Whitfield 44), Fraser (Buckley 82), Grabban (Matthews 74), Afobe (Mousset 67).

Subs Not Used:

Stanton, McCarthy, Butcher.

Goals – Ibe (11).

Marshall, Fabio, Richards (John 60), Peltier (Ajayi 79), Morrison (Manga 46), Connolly, Ralls (O`Keefe 79), Whittingham (Gunnarsson 79), Pilkington (Noone 79), Immers, Gounongbe (Zohore 60).

Wales Online quote Trollope as saying after the match that he would expect a ‘lot of business’ to be done before the closure of the transfer window, as for him the game showed up exactly where we need to improve.

‘We’re looking, absolutely. There’s plenty of time and I’m sure there’ll be a lot of business between now and when the window shuts. We’re still looking and we’re still hopeful. I’m not going to go into details in terms of what we’re looking for, but we’re looking at certain areas we think we need to strengthen and add, both in terms of the first team and competition for places and strength in depth which we obviously need. But I’ll emphasise that the group that we’ve got here have applied themselves well and we were pleased with a lot of the aspects of the system today against a team whose philosophy has been set for a number of years, they know what they’re doing and how they’re doing it. Yet we caused them as many problems as they caused us.’

He added that certainly there would be outgoings with it known we are looking to shift Federico Macheda, Adam Le Fondre and Kagisho Dikgacoi.

‘We’ve got interest in a few of ours who we’ve made available, like I said before, we’ve been respectful to them and they’ve worked hard whichever group they’ve been with. If we can find a solution that would suit all parties.’

As for the Exeter friendly, the announced travelling squad wasn’t correct and it was a Development Squad we sent for the game, and Exeter took the three nil victory.
