Wales Online is reporting the presence of Cardiff legend Craig Bellamy, fresh off the back of him given a glowing endorsement from his former teammate Jay Bothroyd to be given Russell Slade’s job, was nothing more than a mere coincidence.

Tongues were wagging on Saturday when Bellamy was in the director’s box for Reading’s visit to Cardiff but this isn’t something anyone should, apparently, read too much into.

If anything at all!

Slade remains under pressure with calls for him to be replaced as Cardiff boss ongoing, but he himself remains defiant with him of the opinion the Bluebirds are ‘going in the right direction.’

Cardiff have only lost three-matches this season but invariably the performances have been woeful, in particular at home, with many of these failing to bring a goal with the goals against Reading finally ending the goal drought and easing some pressure on Slade and lifting tensions, albeit slightly.

Bothroyd had said, just a couple of days earlier, Bellamy was the man to bring ‘exciting football’ to the Cardiff City Stadium, which many want, with the former Cardiff captain the right man, with the right attitude, application levels, commitment and ability to command respect from his piers exactly what was needed?

The social media scene was abuzz with Bellamy in attendance but the report said ‘an impeccable Cardiff source’ has insisted he was merely ‘a guest’ of Vincent Tan’s with this a coincidental occurrence that had been planed for sometime.

What is it they say, there’s no smoke without fire….
