Cardiff City have been beseiged by injury problems recently both in the strikers and midfield departments with injuries to Bothroyd, McCormack, Ledley and Whittingham. With such a small squad, this is bound to cause serious problems and situations like these have been our downfall in the previous seasons.

However, this time around – the club has acted quickly and decisively to bring in re-enforcements and few Cardiff City fans could have hoped for the quality of the players we have brought in.

Wayne Routledge today became the second emergency loan player to join in the last few weeks – the former Tottenham Hotspur winger is a tricky customer and has Premiership experience aswell as huge potential. His career has not gone as planned since a £1.5m move from Crystal Palace, and since a move to Aston Villa 10 months ago – he has been restricted to subs appearances. Nevertheless, this represents an good signing and based on past form – Routledge could well be a first choice even if all other Bluebirds were fit.

This move, and that for Chopra, represent bold and anbitious moves in the transfer market and should go a long way to allaying fears of financial insecurity and lack of ambition from Jones and Ridsdale. And as any visitor to our friends down West in Swansea (the so-called ‘graveyard of ambition’) should know – AMBITION IS CRITICAL.
